Brinell hardness is determined from the indentation diameter, so the accuracy of the result depends heavily on how the indentation is measured. Optical readers measure the indentation automatically and reduce operator influence. The QATM Qmobile EVO is a portable device for evaluating indentations on site, for example in foundries and forges. The CISAM-Ernst e-brio-w is a stand-alone wireless reader with a camera, and the Altair 20x is an optical indentation reader.
