Ferrite Content Measurement

Ferrite Content Measurement

The ferrite content of austenitic and duplex stainless steel determines the resistance of welds to hot cracking, corrosion and embrittlement. Using the magnetic induction method, Helmut Fischer FERITSCOPE instruments determine the ferrite content in percent (% Fe) or as a ferrite number (FN) within seconds, directly on site: on pressure vessels, pipelines, boilers, cladded surfaces and welds. Strain-induced martensite can also be detected. The instruments are calibrated against traceable ferrite standards, and the results can be transferred to the FISIQ T software for reporting.
